Demos / Artificial life
Patch World.
Watch creatures learn, reproduce and evolve the shape of their brains.
Tap a creature, then Open its brain below the world. Drag to orbit, pinch to zoom or use two fingers to pan. View, pause and zoom buttons work by touch; mouse wheel and Shift-drag work on desktop.
Inside the world
A brain has
to earn its keep.
A moving sun supplies energy while total mass stays fixed. Each creature pays for movement and for running its brain.
Within a life, a creature learns from the consequences of its own actions, here in your browser. Across generations, mutation changes the inherited brain design, and the designs that pay for themselves survive.
Use the three views to move between the physical world, what the creatures observe together and one creature's beliefs.
